Improve Your Overall Health: Give Reiki a Try!

About a month ago, I was cruising through campus, checking out the area where students and vendors often set up their tables to sell or promote things. I was stopped by a poster talking about Chakras. I met Aaron, a volunteer student who is building up his portfolio and gaining experience doing Reiki. After taking the pamphlet he had, I decided to give it a shot.
Reiki has been around since the early 1900’s. It was founded by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. It can help heal the body, reduce stress, and many other things. I did not know what to expect and was excited to experience it.
If I had to compare it to anything, it was like getting a massage without all of the physical contact. I laid on my back and Aaron played some relaxing music. He instructed me to try to relax my mind and body as much as possible. If any problems or issues came to mind, I was to act like I was in the sky and they were clouds blowing past me. Sounded pretty good to me!
There were seven spots he focused on. His hands picked up the energy I was projecting. My strongest point was Manipura or the Solar Plexus Chakra. This deals with “get up and go,” our actions, will, feelings of personal power, anxiety, digestions, and personal growth. I have a positive self image, sense of personal power and low anxiety.
My energy in the Svadhisthana the Sacral Chakra was the most active. This involves sexuality, emotions, nurturance, pleasure, and creativity. He said he kept getting a sense of love mixed with some loss from the past.
He recommended drinking water for the rest of the day. There were toxins inside of my body that were being released and water would help them leave.
I highly recommend trying a session. Bonus: you can do it in a small space, so it’s great for apartment-living!
Also, take a look at this message from Mikao Usui, definitely an awesome way to start thinking:
“The secret art of inviting happiness, The miraculous medicine for all diseases. At least for today: Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be grateful, Work with diligence, Be kind to people. Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart. State with your mind and chant with your mouth. For the improvement of mind and body.” Usui Reiki Ryoho: The founder,Mikao Usui
Do you meditate? What other ways do you stay healthy and relax?
