Getting Rid of your Hidden Body Fat

It doesn’t matter who you are, at some point you want to get rid of your belly fat. The fat around your belly is “deeply hidden” and it’s thought it can lead to various health problems like Type 2 Diabetes and heart disease. There’s a way to get rid of it, but it’s of course going to take some work.

Of course exercise will help you rid you of your hidden fats, but how much exercise? Hidden fats around your belly are quite hard to get rid of, regular exercise will help but it will do little. Higher amounts of exercise and a more rigorous routine will help you lose that belly fat and quickly.

Experts from WebMD say that jogging abour 20 miles a week can help you lose your hidden belly fat. That’s only 3 miles a day for 7 days or 4 miles for 5 days. The task doesn’t seem too daunting if you spread out the mileage in one week.

Remember that The Estates at Tuscany Ridge has a Club-class fitness salon with children’s playroom and a Tennis court and a sand volleyball court.

Recently I’ve taken up biking, and I completely love it! It’s one of the greatest workouts I’ve ever done. Along with my new found exercise I started looking around for some great trails and paths to bike on, and I found the Upper Tampa Bay Trail. This eight-mile trail is great and it’s paved too (which helps the newbies)!

Improve Your Overall Health: Give Reiki a Try!

About a month ago, I was cruising through campus, checking out the area where students and vendors often set up their tables to sell or promote things. I was stopped by a poster talking about Chakras. I met Aaron, a volunteer student who is building up his portfolio and gaining experience doing Reiki. After taking the pamphlet he had, I decided to give it a shot.

Reiki has been around since the early 1900’s. It was founded by Japanese Buddhist Mikao Usui. It can help heal the body, reduce stress, and many other things. I did not know what to expect and was excited to experience it.

If I had to compare it to anything, it was like getting a massage without all of the physical contact. I laid on my back and Aaron played some relaxing music. He instructed me to try to relax my mind and body as much as possible. If any problems or issues came to mind, I was to act like I was in the sky and they were clouds blowing past me. Sounded pretty good to me!

Reiki-275x300There were seven spots he focused on. His hands picked up the energy I was projecting. My strongest point was Manipura or the Solar Plexus Chakra. This deals with “get up and go,” our actions, will, feelings of personal power, anxiety, digestions, and personal growth. I have a positive self image, sense of personal power and low anxiety.

My energy in the Svadhisthana the Sacral Chakra was the most active. This involves sexuality, emotions, nurturance, pleasure, and creativity. He said he kept getting a sense of love mixed with some loss from the past.

He recommended drinking water for the rest of the day. There were toxins inside of my body that were being released and water would help them leave.

I highly recommend trying a session. Bonus: you can do it in a small space, so it’s great for apartment-living!

Also, take a look at this message from Mikao Usui, definitely an awesome way to start thinking:

“The secret art of inviting happiness, The miraculous medicine for all diseases. At least for today: Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be grateful, Work with diligence, Be kind to people. Every morning and evening, join your hands in meditation and pray with your heart. State with your mind and chant with your mouth. For the improvement of mind and body.” Usui Reiki Ryoho: The founder,Mikao Usui

Do you meditate? What other ways do you stay healthy and relax?

We all know smoking is bad and leads to cancer, but according to a recent Gallup poll approximately 21 % of Americans are regular smokers. Every person I know who is a regular smoker wants to quit, but when they try and don’t succeed they often just say “Well something has to kill me… It may as well be smoking.” Obviously that is not the attitude to have.

For those facing the same trials of trying to quit, here is a new study you should know about:

British researchers analyzed previous data from 10 studies examining how long smokers survived after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

People with lung cancer who continued smoking had a 29 to 33 percent chance of surviving five years. But those who kicked the habit had a 63 to 70 percent chance of being alive after five years. The research was published Friday in the BMJ, formerly known as the British Medical Journal.

The battle to cure breast cancer is a ongoing battle in America. There is a new study that claims that pomegranate can help fight breast cancer. A team of researchers in California just published a study suggesting that pomegranates may help prevent breast cancer. Pomegranates are enrich with a group of chemicals called ellagitannins. This study discovered that this chemical in pomegranates can help block an enzyme called aromatase. According to the article, “This enzyme helps produce estrogen, which feeds breast cancer cell growth and tumors. In fact, anti-breast cancer medications called “aromatase inhibitors” (like Arimidex, Aromasin, and Femara) work in the same way as ellagitannins–by stopping the production of estrogen.”

If you’re like me, sometimes you just want to go ahead and do the damage. Why bother with low-fat when you want some ice cream? According to fitsugar.com, though, that’s exactly where you can trim some calories out to keep your diet on track. Their article suggests alternates that are either lower in calories, or healthier for you, to use this holiday season. Try avocado instead of mayo, and yogurt instead of sour cream. The trick is to keep things easy so that you’re more likely to do it. So I guess this season, I’ll actually go ahead and try to do the “low sugar, low fat, and no fried foods avenue” to keep from gaining weight.

Do you have any easy tips for cutting calories that you’d like to share?
